Monsanto Canada (NYSE:MON) is pleased to announce the
appointment of Lisa Safarian to the position of president and
general manager of its Canadian business operations.
Ms. Safarian will be responsible for leading Monsanto's Canadian
business operations in both Eastern and Western Canada,
including reinforcing the long-term strategic importance of
canola to the overall Canadian business and leveraging the
company's corn and soybean pipeline in Eastern Canada. She will
also serve on Monsanto Company's global commercial leadership
team. Safarian replaces Sean Gardner who has relocated to St.
Louis, Missouri to head Monsanto's global chemistry business.

base in Canada," said Safarian. "Canadian farmers are strong
adopters of technology and with a full pipeline of future
beneficial products for both eastern and western Canadian
farmers, it is an exciting time to be leading the Canadian
business."
Safarian, who will relocate to Winnipeg with her family in early
August, has more than 20 years experience with Monsanto and has
previously held roles in information technology, marketing and
field sales. She joined Monsanto Company in 1987 in the
information technology organization and has held a series of
progressively responsible roles within Monsanto including
intellectual property manager; business team leader; sales
effectiveness lead; chemistry regional sales director and most
recently, regional business director for the North/Central
region based out of St. Louis.
Ms. Safarian holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business
Administration and a Masters of Business Administration degree
from Southern Illinois University.
