Syngenta
announced today that the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)
has approved Endigo™ insecticide for use in potatoes. Endigo is
an enhanced product with two modes of action that combines
knockdown and residual activity for sucking and chewing pests.
It protects potatoes against key pests throughout the season
including Colorado potato beetle, aphids, potato leafhopper,
European corn borer and potato tuberworm.
“Endigo knocks down insects quickly and provides long residual
control, so it will be a great tool for growers against major
pests like Colorado potato beetle, aphids and potato
leafhopper,” said Roy Boykin, Syngenta technical brand manager.
“One product that provides effective control of a wide range of
important pests helps simplify grower efforts to obtain maximum
yield and quality.”
Endigo is also an excellent rotational product. “Growers know it
is critical to alternate chemistries throughout the season,”
said Boykin. “Endigo is a great fit in potato insect management
programs. It targets insects with two modes of action in a
single application, and provides an excellent rotational product
to organophosphates and carbamates.”
Syngenta recommends field scouting and applications of Endigo at
2.5 to 4.5 fl. oz. per acre, usually at intervals of seven or
more days, when insect populations reach locally determined
economic thresholds.
