CHINA
China has slightly over
one-fifth of the world population and, with a rapidly
growing middle class, it is a major economic driver in the
global market. China is now the world’s largest producer and
consumer of agri-food products. Its emergence as a key
competitor in some markets, and as a market destination in
others, is of considerable interest to the Canadian
agri-food sector. This issue of the Bi-weekly Bulletin
examines some key elements of China=s agricultural sector
and looks at the prospects of increased trade between Canada
and China.
