Syngenta's Dividend Extreme seed treatment fungicide receives U.S. registration for use on barley and sweet corn

.

Greensboro, North Carolina
September 4, 2007

Syngenta Seed Care™ announced today that the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has registered Dividend Extreme® seed treatment fungicide for use on barley and sweet corn. Dividend Extreme protects against certain seed-borne, soil-borne and early-season foliar diseases in barley and certain seed and seedling diseases of sweet corn. Registration for Dividend Extreme is pending in New York and California.

Powerful Disease Protection in Barley

Previously available in select states through the Special Local Needs provisions of EPA under the 24(c) registrations, Dividend Extreme now brings its powerful performance to barley growers across the country.

“Growers who have witnessed years of excellent performance of Dividend Extreme in their wheat fields can now receive that same performance in their barley crop,” said Kiran Shetty, technical crop manager for Syngenta Seed Care. “So now growers can partner Dividend Extreme with Cruiser® seed treatment insecticide – another proven Seed Care product – to protect their barley and wheat crops from certain diseases and insects at the same time.”

Dividend Extreme protects barley from damaging seed-borne and soil-borne diseases, including Pythium damping-off, barley stripe and covered smut. Dividend Extreme and Cruiser work together to deliver excellent seed safety, healthy roots, enhanced germination and even emergence, which can result in more heads, higher yield and improved return on investment potential.

More Protection for Sweet Corn

In addition, Dividend Extreme is now registered for use on sweet corn to suppress post-emergent die-back complex and damping-off.

“Sweet corn growers now have an important tool for broad-spectrum disease protection right from the start,” said Chad Shelton, crop manager for Syngenta Seed Care. “Dividend Extreme will help increase plant stands and positively impact quality and yield potential, which can result in a boost to the grower’s bottom line.”

The Dividend Extreme Advantage

Dividend Extreme is a systemic seed treatment that defends crops from certain seed-borne and soil-borne diseases. It is a mixture of Dividend® and Apron® XL LS, which suppresses Pythium damping-off. Dividend Extreme is applied by commercial seed applicators or seed companies, which provides added convenience to growers.
