 The
American Seed Trade Association (ASTA) is honored to
announce the addition of Acting Secretary of Agriculture, The
Honorable Charles Conner, to our lineup of convention speakers
at the Opening General Session of
CSS 2007,
being held Wednesday, December 5 at 8:00 a.m. The Secretary will
provide an update on recent political activity surrounding the
Farm Bill and the view from Washington.
Charles F. Conner was sworn in as Deputy Secretary of
Agriculture on May 2, 2005, by Agriculture Secretary Mike
Johanns, and became Acting Secretary of Agriculture earlier this
year. Prior to his tenure at the U.S. Department of Agriculture,
Mr. Conner served on the National Economic Council beginning in
November 2001 as a Special Assistant to the President for
Agricultural Trade and Food Assistance, focusing primarily on
Farm Bill issues. From 1997 to 2001, Mr. Conner was President of
the Corn Refiners Association, Inc., a national trade
association representing the corn refining industry. Prior to
his tenure with the Corn Refiners Association, Conner held
several staff positions with the Senate Committee on
Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry. |
