The
Canadian Young Farmers' Forum and
Monsanto Canada today
announced the signing of a three-year working agreement that
will see Monsanto Canada provide monetary and in-kind support
for leadership and training programs aimed at young farmers from
across Canada.
"We are very proud to have such a respected company such as
Monsanto come on board to support the organization's long term
goals," said Canadian Young Farmers' Forum President, Chris
Kletke. "Monsanto's commitment to young farmers from across
Canada not only shows the importance they place on young farmers
but shows their interest it what the CYFF has to offer. I am
certain this cooperative effort will prove beneficial to both
parties."
Formed in 1997, the mission of the Canadian Young Farmers Forum
is to promote the exchange of ideas and to foster collaboration
between young and beginning farmers across the country. Today,
the Forum provides a multi-faceted development opportunity for
farmers between the ages of 18 and 40 that serves to inform
participants, consolidate young farmer opinion, and offer
leadership training and advice to farmers just starting to
establish themselves as vital players in the agricultural
sector.
"Supporting young farmers is important to the future growth and
success of the agricultural sector in Canada, as well as our
business," said Trish Jordan, Monsanto Canada's Director of
Public Affairs. "The mandate of CYFF fits well with our interest
in providing leadership and development opportunities for rural
youth and encouraging young people to pursue their interest in
agriculture. Based on our association with CYFF and their work
over the past few years, we think the organization is playing an
important role in bringing profile to the unique issues faced by
young farmers today."
The Canadian Young Farmers' Forum is primarily funded through
Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada under the renewal pillar, with
additional support provided by industry sponsors. The CYFF
Annual General Meeting and Conference is set for Feb. 25-28,
2008 in Ottawa, Ontario. To learn more, visit
