Cotton Seed Distributors Facts on Friday: Management of Liberty Link cotton

.

Queensland, Australia
November 2, 2007

The introduction of a new herbicide cotton, Liberty Link to Australian cotton growers this season adds further to the choice for weed management systems. In this week's Facts on Friday the Cotton Seed Distributors Extension and Development Team discuss the some of the pros and cons of this new technology.

Management of Liberty Link Cotton:

This season sees the release of two new varieties with the Liberty Link® trait from Bayer CropScience. Both Sicot 80L and Sicot 43L allow the over the top application of Liberty 200® Herbicide (glufosinate ammonium) to control many broadleaf weeds. Although important in its release for Australian cotton growers it does pose a series of challenges as we all learn to manage
different herbicide tolerant technologies together.
