Keygene
Products announces the release of its new genotyping
software suite. The KeyGene™ Quantar Suite is the successor of
the well known AFLP-Quantar® Pro software package. The new suite
provides comprehensive genotyping functionality, including
signal detection, signal quantification/signal scoring and the
actual genotyping.
The KeyGene™ Quantar Suite
supports fragment detection-based marker technologies like AFLP®
and SNPWave™ on all major detection platforms. This includes
slab gel formats such as LI-COR, FujiFilm, Molecular Dynamics/GE
and the generic TIFF, but also trace file format of capillary
electrophoresis platforms such as Applied BioSystems, MegaBACE,
Spectrumedix and Beckman.
The new suite is a user friendly
process-driven toolset supporting and combining all steps common
to genotyping projects, like sample management, automated lane
detection, fragment sizing and dye assignment. The suite
includes dedicated genotyping algorithms tuned for each
application. In addition, the software's workflows provide
strong integration between processes and data, which enhances
traceability, archiving and portability of genotyping
experiments.
This release is part of Keygene's
new software strategy to support its continuous development of
new technologies such as SNPWave™, CRoPS™ and KeyPoint™. The
KeyGene™ Quantar Suite is the first product in a line of new
commercially available software suites currently in development.
The release of a new genetic mapping suite is scheduled for Q1
2008.
'In our field the focus is
changing from wet lab only technology to a combination with in
silico analysis tools. To strengthen our technology range we
have chosen to improve and combine all Keygene tools into suites
to offer a full services package to our customers. Our cost
competitive software is focused on high quality analysis in a
demanding market', says Harold Verstegen, Manager Bioinformatics
at Keygene.
The development of the KeyGene™
Quantar Suite is in line with various standardization
initiatives to ensure data compatibility in the future. For more
