U.S. growers vote Syngenta's CruiserMaxx beans No-Till Seed Treatment Product of the Year

Greensboro, North Carolina
March 5, 2007

With the increasing trend toward planting earlier into no-till seedbeds, growers are always on the look out for products to give them that extra “oomph” when planting into these harsh field conditions. Products that made a significant impact on no-till farming practices were honored in front of more than 700 growers at the 15th annual National No-Tillage Conference, held earlier this year in Des Moines, Iowa. No-Till Farmer readers, most of whom are growers themselves, voted the CruiserMaxx™ Beans combination as their top choice for No-Till Seed Treatment Product of the Year.

Now in its second year, the No-Till Products of the Year awards spotlight outstanding growers, researchers and organizations that dedicate themselves to improving no-till farming techniques. Award categories include seeding equipment, planter/drill attachments, seed treatments, fertility, herbicides, fungicides and insecticides.

“We asked readers to nominate three ground-breaking no-till products and then the nominations were ranked on the basis of first, second and third,” said Frank Lessiter, editor of No-Till Farmer. “The outstanding seed treatment winner was CruiserMaxx Beans— growers voted for the product based on the effectiveness of its insect and disease control.”

A CruiserMaxx Beans brand product is an insecticide and fungicide combination that offers growers protection against early-season insects, such as soybean aphid and bean leaf beetle, and devastating diseases, such as Pythium and early-season Phytophthora. CruiserMaxx Beans is shown to improve plant uniformity, vigor, stand, canopy closure and yield potential.

“CruiserMaxx Beans has had tremendous success over the past two years,” said Mark Jirak, crop manager for Syngenta Seed Care. “This award confirms that Syngenta Seed Care is meeting the needs of growers in terms of early-season pest protection and getting the season off to the right start, which ultimately leads to a potentially more profitable harvest.”

Next winter, the No-Till Product of the Year award winners will be announced during the 16th annual National No-Tillage Conference in Cincinnati, Ohio.
