Corn-after-corn information featured on the Pioneer GrowingPoint website - Resources available to help farm operators with corn-after-corn issues
Des Moines, Iowa
January 5, 2007

Growers currently considering a corn-after-corn rotation now have a new resource for timely information – the Pioneer GrowingPoint® website, from Pioneer Hi-Bred International, Inc. Newly added topics to the “2007 Planting Headquarters” section of the website focus on the various aspects of corn after corn; they include:

  • Management Suggestions for Corn After Corn

  • “Cost of Production” Economics Calculator

  • Hybrid Selection

  • Plant and Seed Technology

  • Pest and Disease Management

  • Fertility Management

  • Field Management: Residue, Tillage and Compaction

“Current corn prices are prompting some growers to consider planting corn after corn for the first time,” says Jeff Talmadge, E-Business Coordinator, Pioneer. “By reviewing this information on the GrowingPoint website, growers can get a head start through suggestions and tips regarding corn-after-corn management.”

“Growers will want to select the highest performing genetics with defensive traits required for a corn-after-corn production system, and the information on the site will help them in making the best decisions for their operations,” says Steve Butzen, Pioneer agronomy information manager. “The calculator assists with the economics of corn-after-corn operations, and other topics address issues growers traditionally face: pest, disease and fertility management.”

While on the website, visitors are encouraged to check out additional resources available to help in various aspects of their operations.

"The GrowingPoint website features a whole host of agronomy information," Talmadge says. "There’s been a lot of interest from customers and growers in the field, addressing corn after corn and its management. Corn after corn is just one important management topic addressed, and we know growers will find it and other suggestions helpful as we head into the 2007 growing season."

Growers can reference information by clicking the corn-after-corn banner ad on the home page of the GrowingPoint website. Visit www.pioneer.com/growingpoint for more information. New users will need to register on the site to obtain a username and password to access the site or can call 1-800-233-7333 for assistance.
