Pioneer Hi-Bred, a DuPont business, today announced the
expansion and upgrade of seed production, packaging and
distribution at its Dysart, Iowa, production facility. When
completed, the facility will increase its production efficiency
and add parent soybeans to the corn and alfalfa it currently
grows and/or distributes.
"The expansion allows us to increase our ability to provide the
high-quality products our customers expect from Pioneer," Mark
Batchelder, Pioneer North America Operations Director, said. "It
is part of the on-going commitment by DuPont to invest in its
Pioneer seed business."
Pioneer currently has six employees working at a nearby parent
soybean location in Waterloo, Iowa. When the Dysart expansion is
complete, those employees will transfer from the Waterloo
facility, bringing the total to 25 people who will be employed
there full-time. The expansion project includes several new
warehouses, new treating and packaging systems, racking systems,
bulk seed bins, new office and shop buildings, additional
equipment storage buildings, and several new roadways.
"Dysart is an important location for Pioneer," Batchelder said.
"We have been a proud member of the community since 1942, and we
look forward to completing our expansion and increasing our
presence in the local area."
Construction began earlier this year and is expected to be
completed in the fall of 2008. In addition to the location in
Dysart, Pioneer currently owns and operates 10 other production
locations in Iowa.
