USDA seeks nominations for the National Organic Standards Board

The U.S. Department of Agriculture is seeking nominations to fill the position of Environmentalist on the National Organic Standards Board (NOSB). The Secretary will appoint a person to serve a 5-year term of office that will commence upon appointment and run until January 23, 2013.

The NOSB is a 15-member board responsible for developing and recommending to the Secretary changes in the National List of Allowed and Prohibited substances. The NOSB also advises the Secretary on all other aspects of the National Organic Program.

Any individual appointed to the NOSB environmentalist position must demonstrate expertise in areas of environmental protection and resource conservation as they relate to organic agricultural production. USDA will follow equal opportunity practices in all appointments to the NOSB.

Written nominations, accompanied by cover letters and resumes, must be postmarked on or before August 17, 2007. Nominations should be sent to Ms. Katherine E.
