(DAFWA) researchers are appealing for farmers to contribute weed
seeds or mature seed heads to assist with a study into the role
of Root Lesion Nematodes in the cereal cropping system.
Technical
officer Ali Bhatti said the nematologists would also screen
weeds to investigate their ability to build-up or carry-over
nematodes,” Mr Bhatti said.
“The seeds
will be used to grow plants in the glasshouse for testing,” he
said.
“Farmers can
help by sending us the weed seeds or mature seed heads of wild
radish, Capeweed, Wild turnip, Doublegee, Dock, Storksbill,
Mallow or various grasses. We only need a handful,” Mr Bhatti
said.
Seed or mature
seed head samples should be sent in a sealed paper bag or
envelope, with contact details, location and identity of the
seed to
