Soybean rust found in ten Florida counties

Intensive scouting in Florida between January 11 and 13 resulted in positive finds of soybean rust in ten Florida counties: Polk, Duval, Leon, Alachua, Pasco, Hernando, Hillsborough, Lee, Marion and Gadsden. Polk county was the only one of the nine county with no soybean rust finds in 2005.

In Texas, the kudzu patch in Liberty county that had SBR in November 2005 has completely died back.

Positive finds in 2006 by state: Alabama has one positive county and Florida has ten.

In 2005, Caldwell, KY was the farthest north and Hyde county, NC was the farthest east location where soybean rust was found . Liberty county in Texas was the farthest west that rust had been found . 138 counties had soybean rust in 2005. Alabama had 33 counties reported positive with rust; Florida had 23; Georgia had 35; Mississippi and Louisiana each had 2; South Carolina had 23; North Carolina had 18; Texas and Kentucky each had 1.
