USDA/APHIS surveys major US alfalfa seed producers to determine interest level in export to Bolivia

To: Major alfalfa seed producers in California, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Washington and Wyoming

There has been an initial request for some pest risk analysis information for Alfalfa seed, currently prohibited, by the Bolivian government for an interested importer or importers. Prior to moving forward with a response the USDA APHIS PPQ Phytosanitary Issues Management Trade Director and Regional Directors are interested in learning what sort of interest there is in the Alfalfa seed industry as a supplier for this market.

Therefore, please forward this informal "Interest Survey" memo to your industry representatives for comment. Please respond as soon as possible (flexible response date: January 22, 2007)
