Monsanto Canada announces new appointments in western trait and seed business

Monsanto Canada (NYSE:MON) is pleased to announce several new appointments in its Western Trait and Seed business.

Norm Sissons takes on the role of Western Trait and Seed Commercial Lead, replacing Sean Gardner who was recently appointed to the position of vice-president and general manager of Monsanto's Canadian business. In this role, Sissons will focus on the leadership of the sales, marketing, licensing, technology development and crop team activities within Monsanto's Canadian canola business. He will also assume a position on Monsanto's Canadian Leadership Team, comprised of key personnel responsible for each of Monsanto's core business and enabling team functions.

Sissons brings marketing and technical experience in canola and prairie agriculture from previous roles at Bayer Crop Science, Limagrain and Monsanto Canada. He joined Limagrain as field operations agronomist in 1999, became technology product manager with Monsanto in 2001 and most recently served as DEKALB(R) business manager for Western Canada. Sissons holds Bachelor of Science and Masters Degrees in Plant Science from the University of Manitoba, as well as an MBA from the University of Manitoba.

Todd Younghans takes on the role of Licensing Business Manager, replacing Rob Nixon who relocated to the U.S. to work for Delta and Pine Land. In this role, Younghans will be responsible for managing Monsanto's western Canadian Roundup Ready(R) business in canola - both through direct sales and licensing. He will also manage Monsanto's intellectual property protection business and be responsible for the introduction of new traits in canola. Younghans has held previous roles with Monsanto Canada since joining the organization in 2003, including business analyst and national account manager for western trait and seed. Prior to joining Monsanto, Younghans worked for Tiger Industries, Nexus Ag and Cargill. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agriculture from the University of Alberta and an MBA from the University of Guelph.

Neil Arbuckle was appointed to the position of DEKALB Business Manager for Western Canada effective August 29, 2006, replacing Norm Sissons. In this role, Arbuckle will be responsible for managing Monsanto's branded seed business which markets quality certified canola, corn and soybean seed to growers under the DEKALB brand name. Arbuckle brings extensive seed industry and marketing experience to this role. He has held a number of roles of increasing responsibility at Agricore United including seed sales supervisor, area sales manager, distribution manager and manager of Agricore United's Proven Seed business. Arbuckle holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agriculture from the University of Manitoba and holds and an MBA from Queen's University.
