Syngenta caps cutworm insecticide costs
Greensboro, North Carolina
November 8, 2004

A new assurance program from Syngenta assures corn growers who plant with Cruiser Extreme Pak seed treatment will not have to incur additional product costs if a subsequent application to control cutworms is required. Growers can be certain that using seed treated with Cruiser Extreme Pak will keep cutworm levels at or below economic thresholds for the first 28 days after planting or up to three-leaf corn, whichever comes first. Growers should continue scouting fields to monitor cutworm populations and if economic thresholds are exceeded, Syngenta will reimburse the grower for a Warrior® with Zeon Technology foliar treatment up to $4.00 per acre (product only/application not included).

“The Cutworm Assurance Program combines Cruiser Extreme Pak and Warrior with Zeon Technology to offer corn growers maximum protection against cutworms,” said Mark Jirak, crop manager for Syngenta Seed Treatment. “With this program, growers who plant seed treated with Cruiser Extreme Pak can be confident that cutworm problems in their fields will be controlled.”

Cruiser Extreme Pak is a unique seed company applied promotional combination of four separately registered products - Cruiser® seed treatment insecticide and Maxim® XL, Apron XL® and Dynasty® seed treatment fungicides. These products work together to provide premium insect and seedling disease protection. Cruiser Extreme Pak provides superior protection against a broad spectrum of early-season insect pests such as wireworm, black cutworm, seedcorn maggot, white grub, flea beetle, chinch bug and southern corn leaf beetle.

Pairing Cruiser with the most robust fungicide package on the market including innovative Dynasty seed treatment fungicide, Cruiser Extreme Pak also offers enhanced disease protection against some of the most harmful seed- and soil-borne diseases in corn including Alternaria, Fusarium, Cladosporium, Helminthosporium, Diplodia, Aspergilllus, Penicillium, Rhizoctonia and Pythium. Available only as a part of Cruiser Extreme Pak, Dynasty alone has been shown to provide an average yield increase of five bushels per acre when compared to standard fungicide treatments in 120 field plots over the last three years.*
