Growers producing Pioneer® brand
sorghum hybrids recently won 60 percent of all national and
state awards presented in the 2001 National Grain Sorghum
Producers' (NGSP) Yield and Management Contest.
Farmers growing Pioneer sorghum hybrids won seven national
honors, including three of six first-place awards and four of
six second-place awards. Growers also won 73 of 122 state
categories with Pioneer hybrids.
"We're pleased to see the tremendous results that growers
achieved in the NGSP contest this year," says Bill Fleet,
Pioneer regional director for North American sales. "Their
diligent management practices along with top-notch seed products
lead to their success."
The NGSP Yield and Management Contest is an annual competition
among sorghum producers with the goal of producing the highest
yields. Growers compete within a broad range of sorghum
production classes, including conventional-till irrigated,
conventional-till non-irrigated, mulch-till non-irrigated,
no-till
non-irrigated, reduced-till irrigated and national food-grade
classes.
National and state winners will be recognized at the 2002
Sorghum Industry Conference in San Francisco in mid-February.
