Waterloo, Nebraska
May 23,  2001

The two new positions of Web Developer and GHPLoTS Programmer have been added to the Management Information Systems Department at The J.C. Robinson Seed Co. "As the Company continues to grow, the demands for information increase," Mark Hoffman, Chief Information Officer said. "These positions were created to enhance our ability to support those needs—e-commerce and a database of harvest information."

Joe Savoie joined the Company as Web Developer. "My primary responsibilities focus on providing tools and services on the Internet," Savoie said.

"We are developing internal and external websites for our dealers and customers," Hoffman said. "The Web Developer position has strategic importance for the direction the Company has decided to take in e-commerce. Joe is instrumental to the success of this direction." Savoie’s previous experience includes five years as a computer programmer and 13 years in the U.S. Navy.

Gregg Asplund was hired as the GHPLoTS Programmer. "GHPLoTS stands for Golden Harvest Performance Location Testing System," Hoffman said. "In other words, it’s the computer database that includes harvest information such as plots, side by sides, yield monitor information and random strip checks."

"My responsibilities are to maintain and enhance GH PLoTS, which is used throughout the Company as a tool to evaluate hybrid performance from both marketing/sales and research perspectives," Asplund said. Asplund joins the Company after he retired from the U.S. Air Force as the superintendent of a software support division.
