February 2000
Garst Seed Company announces their February
additions to their extensive new hybrid listing for the 2000 planting season. These 15 new products are in addition to the 23 new corn seed
products that Garst announced in August of 1999. Thus, for 2000, corn growers now have a total of 38 new corn hybrids from which to choose.
The latest new products reflect a broad range of maturity ranges
and the consistent, top-performing genetics Garst customers have come to
expect.
Included in these latest introductions are several new Garst G-STAC
hybrids, including a 110-day Bt/RR (Roundup Ready) stacked-trait hybrid.
New Garst G-STAC hybrids
Putting the advantages of YieldGard Insect Protection in a "stack" with
the proven and effective weed control program offered by Roundup Ultra
herbicide, Garst 8559Bt/RR is an exciting new G-STAC offering for the central and western Corn Belt. Right in the middle of the mid-season
hybrid range, Garst 8559Bt/RR is an 110-day hybrid offering top end yield
potential, excellent ear flex and fast drydown characteristics.
Another new Garst G-STAC hybrid is Garst 8041Bt/LL. This high yielding
112-day performer features the season long, full plant protection of StarLink Bt along with the herbicide management options offered by Liberty
herbicide.
Rounding out the new mid-season hybrids are Garst 8647 with a 105 day GRM
and Garst 9559Bt with a 110 day GRM and YieldGard Insect Protection. Both
products have performed well across years and add stable yield performance
to an already impressive product range from Garst.
Early Season Hybrids
In the early season maturity range, Garst is adding five new hybrids,
including three new Bt seed products that contain YieldGard Insect Protection. Garst 8900Bt is an 87 day Bt hybrid with stable yield
performance and good grain quality. Garst 8894Bt is a new 92 day Bt hybrid
with top-end yield punch and outstanding early growth characteristics.
Garst 8790Bt rounds out the new Bt offerings at 100 day maturity. It boasts
broad adaptation, race horse yield potential and strong early growth.
Garst 8902 and Garst 8801 are two new non-trait hybrids Garst is bringing
to the market the year in the early season areas. Garst 8902 brings strong
early growth, excellent grain quality and good ear flex. Garst 8801 brings
stable yield performance, wide adaptation and a solid agronomic package to
the 96 day maturity areas.
Full-Season hybrids
And in the popular, top-yielding full-season hybrids, Garst has four new
products, including one Bt hybrid and two IT hybrids for the Clearfield
Production System. Garst 8341 and 8363Bt are both feature 115-day relative maturities.
Garst 8363Bt offers YieldGard Insect Protection to assure growers of maximum
yield potential even with light to moderate corn borer infestations, while Garst
8341 offers top-end yield punch for more productive acres.
The two new Garst IT hybrids in the full-season maturity include Garst
8273IT (116 day GRM) and Garst 8251IT (118 day GRM). Both of these hybrids
can be used as part of the Clearfield Production System and offer growers
stable yield performance and dependable agronomics.
Specialty Corn
New to the Garst Specialty Corn lineup is Garst 8844TC4. This
95-day TopCross blend is one of the earliest products of it's type and is
especially well adapted for the silage market.
And rounding out the specialty corn products is 2588 and 2626.
Both are high-quality food grade hybrids, with 2588 being having a 110 day GRM
and 2626 a 112 day GRM.
