In a significant
re-organization, PICKSEED Canada
Inc. announces the appointment of Sam Sheriff, B.Sc. to the newly
created role of PRODUCT MANAGER-PICKSEED HYBRID CORN
Sam has served as the manager of the
PICKSEED seed corn production unit at Tilbury.
PICKSEED will be outsourcing its seed
corn requirements; beginning with crop 2000 and the Tilbury plant will
be closed.
Sam’s further responsibilities will
include leading the team that will develop the PICKSEED Hybrid Corn
product line. In March 1999 PICKSEED Canada entered into a long-term
agreement with Advanta Seeds Canada, the Canadian associated parent
company of Garst® brand hybrid seed corn. Under the terms of this
agreement, Garst® brand will be the provider of corn germplasm and
technology to PICKSEED. Sam will integrate the Garst® licensed
developments into the PICKSEED marketing lineup and program. PICKSEED
will continue to produce most of its own seed requirements on an
out-sourced basis with contractors in the nearby U.S. and with
irrigated production capacity.
Sam Sheriff will arrange all contract
production, coordinate the lead-in requirements of parent seed, assess
new technologies, expand the PICKSEED Showcase test program and
coordinate all aspects of production through the distribution system.
This new position will be located in
Lindsay, Ontario at PICKSEED Canada's head office.
