Delta and Pine Land's Tom Kerby retires, remains with business as consultant

January 4, 2008

Former vice president of technical services for Delta and Pine Land Company, Dr. Tom Kerby, announces his retirement from full-time employment and his assuming a role as a consultant to Monsanto Company.

Kerby designed D&PL’s technical services department and shaped the way the company approached testing and development of varieties and transgenic traits as they neared market introduction. Eighteen months ago he began a leadership transition by stepping down from his position as vice president of technical services and moving to Utah to spend more time with family.

“Tom’s role in designing testing programs and data analysis have shaped the cotton industry,” according to Fred Perlak, Monsanto’s cotton technology lead. “We are thrilled to have his input as we develop the technologies in our pipeline – drought tolerance, dicamba resistance, lygus control and Bollgard III. We anticipate having Kerby’s input on a routine and frequent basis.”

Monsanto Company is a leading global provider of technology-based solutions and agricultural products that improve farm productivity and food quality.
