International Seed Federation hires Piero Sismondo as new Director Seed Technology and Trade

In order to fill the new position of Director Seed Technology and Trade, the International Seed Federation had received 30 applications for the position. Out of this group 4 candidates were invited for an interview, and ISF is very pleased to announce that Mr. Piero Sismondo has been selected to fill the new function. Mr. Sismondo comes to ISF with a very long tradition in the seed business. After graduating as an Agronomy engineer at the University of Bari (Italy), he started his career in 1976 at the company Maccarese Spa.

After that he worked in different positions first with Asgrow Italia as Area Sales Manager, then with Asgrow Europe as International Product Manager and later on with Monsanto Italia as Operations Lead and Country Seed Supply Lead. He brings with him a vast amount of knowledge and experience about seed production. During this period he has been very active in national and international seed associations. Within the Italian Seed Association AIS he was chairman of the Oilseeds Section and is currently chairing the Maize and Sorghum Section. Within ISF he has been an active member of the Industrial Crops Section and the Maize and Sorghum Section. He is currently a member of the Field Crops Section Board. Mr. Sismondo speaks English, Spanish, French and Italian.

He will start at the ISF secretariat from the 1st of February 2009 and will be moving to the Nyon area in the coming months.
