Growth in the first quarter of 2008 has
exceeded expectations and preliminary first quarter sales
figures indicate an increase of 20 percent at constant exchange
rates compared with the first quarter of 2007. Growth was spread
across all regions, with particularly strong demand for Crop
Protection products augmented by a robust performance in Seeds.
While this rate of growth is unlikely to be sustained throughout
the year, the first quarter momentum leads the company to expect
that full year earnings per share* growth is likely to
exceed 20 percent.

Syngenta hat
die Wachstumserwartungen für das erste Quartal 2008 übertroffen.
Der Umsatz des Unternehmens stieg nach vorläufigen Zahlen im
Vergleich zum ersten Quartal 2007 bei konstanten Wechselkursen
um 20%. Syngenta verzeichnete Wachstum in allen Regionen. Die
Nachfrage nach Produkten von Crop Protection war besonders hoch,
unterstützt durch die Performance des Bereichs Seeds. Obwohl die
Wachstumsrate des ersten Quartals voraussichtlich nicht auf das
Gesamtjahr übertragbar ist, geht das Unternehmen angesichts des
starken Geschäftsverlaufs im ersten Quartal davon aus, dass der
Gewinn pro Aktie* für das Gesamtjahr auf mehr als 20% steigen
wird.
