Garst Seed Company
recently added two new members to its agronomy team. Mitch
Christensen of Ames will serve as a Garst area agronomist for
growers in northeastern Iowa, while Kevin Hulsebus of Atkins
will serve growers in the east and southeastern portion of the
state.
Christensen and Hulsebus will provide agronomic expertise,
technical support and product information to growers in their
territories.
"Both Mitch and Kevin have extensive knowledge of Garst seed
products and Iowa agriculture, making them valuable new
additions to our team," said Jim Bueltel, agronomy services
manager for Garst. "Mitch has a sound understanding of crop
production and an impressive background in farm management that
will be a real benefit to growers. Kevin has proven himself a
trusted source of information for farmers in eastern Iowa and
his interest in technology helps keep Garst customers informed
about the latest advancements. Our skilled agronomists are a key
factor in fulfilling Garst's continuing mission to provide
growers with information and technology that helps them
succeed."
Christensen rejoins the Garst team after working as a production
manager for Syngenta, the parent company of Garst. He began his
agronomy career at Cedar Johnson Farm Service in Mechanicsville,
Iowa. He then served as an agronomist for New Century Farm
Service in Newton, Iowa. In 1998, he accepted a job with Garst
Seed in Coon Rapids, Iowa, as a production manager. Christensen
graduated from Iowa State University with a major in agriculture
business and a minor in agronomy.
Hulsebus was named to area agronomist after serving as a Garst
district sales manager for seven years in eastern Iowa. Prior to
that, he was a sales representative with American Cyanamid for
12 years. Hulsebus attended Northwest Missouri State University
at Maryville, Mo., where he received an agriculture business
degree.
