AgResearch Chief
Executive Dr Andrew West today announced the appointment of Dr
Travis Glare as the Institute's new General Manager of Science
Strategy. Dr Glare has been promoted from within AgResearch. He
is currently Section Manager of Biocontrol, Biosecurity &
Bioprocessing, based at the CRI's Lincoln campus.
"This is an important position for our research institute and Dr
Glare brings to it an impressive track record in research,
development and management, " said Dr West. Dr Glare will be
responsible for helping implement AgResearch's 2020 Science
blueprint to enhance the pastoral sector, systematically
improving scientific excellence within the Institute and bidding
to government science funding agents.
Dr Glare said: "I am pleased to take up the position in Science
Strategy with AgResearch. AgResearch has a well constructed
direction indicated by 2020 Science and extensive research
capability; the challenge is to implement the direction through
research. I am looking forward to that challenge and working
with our industry partners and government to further
AgResearch's contribution to New Zealand's prosperity."
In announcing the appointment Dr West complimented AgResearch's
outgoing Chief Science Strategist Dr Stephen Goldson, FRSNZ. "Dr
Goldson signed up for the role for three years. Time's up and he
is returning to the bench to once again be a scientific leader
and active researcher. Dr Goldson's contribution to AgResearch
has been immense, both in the past three years and the many
years in science that preceded them. I'm delighted that Dr
Goldson has agreed to remain as the Institute's Chief Scientist,
reporting to Dr Glare. He will help us maintain positive
relationships in Wellington, where he has been exceptionally
well-received". |
