Tim Welbanks elected 2007-08 President of the Canadian Seed Trade Association

Tim Welbanks has been elected the 67th President of the Canadian Seed Trade Association (CSTA). Welbanks, who is the Product Information Manager for Pioneer Hi-Bred in Chatham Ontario, was elected at the CSTA’s 84th Annual Meeting in Ottawa.

Tim was first elected to the CSTA Board of Directors in 1998. He has served on many CSTA standing committees, and continues to represent CSTA on a number of external associations and advisory committees. He has been especially active in corn and soybeans, and has contributed on a regular basis to the Garden Seed and Organic Committee and the Intellectual Property Committee. The Board of Directors and staff at CSTA welcome Tim and look forward to a productive year under his leadership.

Jeff Reid of SeCan in Ottawa, Ontario was elected CSTA 1st Vice-President at the Annual meeting, and David Sippell of Canterra Seeds in Winnipeg, Manitoba was elected 2nd Vice-President. Three new members have been elected to the CSTA Board of Directors. Doug Knight of Saskatchewan Wheat Pool in Regina, Saskatchewan; Archie Wilson, C&M Seeds in Palmerston, Ontario, and Stephen Denys, Pride Seeds in Chatham Ontario will serve 3 year terms on the Board.

Headquartered in the nation's capital, the Canadian Seed Trade Association (CSTA) represents the interests of 138 corporate members engaged in all aspects of seed research, production and marketing, both domestically and internationally.
