Syngenta announced today that its corn rootworm trait, Agrisure™ RW, has received registration approval from the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Syngenta will launch for sale corn seed containing Agrisure RW for the 2007 growing season in the USA, the world’s largest corn market.

“The approval of Agrisure RW in this fast-growing biotech market is a major step in our strategy to bring all three of the leading input traits to the corn market,” says Jeff Cox, Head of Syngenta Global Corn and Soybeans. “This new high-performing trait offers growers industry-leading control of rootworm while delivering full yield potential.”

Agrisure RW will be available to US growers as a single trait and stacked with glyphosate tolerance through elite hybrids from Garst®, Golden Harvest® and NK®. Syngenta also plans to market the trait for use in other leading seed brands through its GreenLeaf Genetics joint venture U.S. registration is pending for its Agrisure RW trait stacked with corn borer enabling the commercialization of the triple stack of glyphosate tolerance, corn borer and rootworm resistance.

Syngenta erhält US-Zulassung für Biotech-Produkt gegen den Maiswurzelwurm

Syngenta hat heute bekannt gegeben, dass die amerikanische Umweltschutzbehörde (EPA) die Zulassung für Agrisure™ RW, ein Biotech-Produkt zum Schutz vor dem Maiswurzelwurm, erteilt hat. Damit wird Syngenta die USA, den grössten Maismarkt der Welt, für die Anbausaison 2007 mit Maissaatgut beliefern, das den sogenannten Agrisure RW Trait enthält.

„Die Zulassung von Agrisure RW in dem schnell wachsenden Biotech-Markt ist ein wichtiger Schritt in unserer Strategie, alle drei für den Maismarkt wichtigen Biotech-Traits einzuführen“, sagte Jeff Cox, Head of Syngenta Global Corn and Soybeans. „Dieser neue leistungsfähige Trait bietet den Landwirten eine hervorragende Kontrolle des Maiswurzelwurms und sichert ihnen zugleich das volle Ertragspotenzial.“

Agrisure RW wird den amerikanischen Landwirten in den hochwertigen Maishybridsorten von Garst®, Golden Harvest® und NK® als Single-Trait-Produkt zum Schutz vor dem Maiswurzelwurm, aber auch als kombiniertes Produkt mit zusätzlicher Toleranz gegenüber dem Herbizid Glyphosat angeboten. Syngenta plant ausserdem, den Agrisure RW Trait durch sein Joint Venture mit GreenLeaf Genetics für den Einsatz in anderen führenden Saatgutmarken zu vermarkten. Die US-Registrierung für den Agrisure RW Trait in Kombination mit dem Schutz gegen den Maiszünsler, einen weiteren Maisschädling, steht noch aus. Diese Registrierung wird die Markteinführung eines sogenannten „Triple Stack“-Saatgutes ermöglichen, das neben der Glyphosattoleranz auch Schutz vor dem Maiswurzelwurm und dem Maiszünsler bietet.

Le caractère de résistance à la chrysomèle des racines du maïs développé par Syngenta est homologué aux États-Unis

Syngenta a annoncé aujourd’hui l’homologation d’Agrisure™ RW, son caractère de résistance à la chrysomèle du maïs, par l’agence américaine de protection de l’environnement (EPA). La commercialisation des semences de maïs intégrant le caractère Agrisure RW est prévue pour la saison de culture 2007 aux États-Unis, premier producteur mondial de maïs.
«L’homologation d’Agrisure RW sur ce marché biotechnologique à forte croissance constitue une avancée stratégique majeure qui va nous permettre de commercialiser les trois traits de résistance principaux intéressant le marché du maïs», déclare Jeff Cox, responsable des activités maïs et soja de Syngenta dans le monde. «Ce nouveau caractère extrêmement performant offre aux agriculteurs le moyen de lutte le plus efficace du marché contre la chrysomèle tout en leur garantissant des rendements maximaux.»
Agrisure RW sera commercialisé aux États-Unis en tant que trait unique ou combiné au caractère de tolérance au glyphosate à travers les hybrides haut-de-gamme de Garst®, Golden Harvest® et NK®. Syngenta envisage également de commercialiser le caractère sous d’autres marques à travers sa joint-venture GreenLeaf Genetics. L’homologation est en cours aux Etats-Unis pour le caractère Agrisure RW combiné au caractère de résistance à la pyrale du maïs, ce qui permettra de commercialiser la triple association du caractère de tolérance au glyphosate et des caractères de résistance à la chrysomèle et à la pyrale du maïs.
