Seminis' new website features online product database, multiple languages

Seminis, Inc., the world's leading developer, producer and marketer of vegetable and fruit seeds, has launched a new global website featuring a product database, expanded grower resources and multiple languages. "This is the first phase of what will be an expanding resource for growers and seed dealers looking for product information and support materials like disease identification guides," said Seminis vice president Ibrahim El Menschawi. He noted that the product database currently includes the company's top products, and will eventually be expanded to cover its 3,500 seed varieties representing nearly 60 crops.

El Menschawi says that many of the visitors to Seminis' website are members of the produce industry and consumers who want to learn more about plant breeding and new value-added products with longer shelf life, higher nutrient levels, better flavor or greater convenience. For this purpose, Seminis has included sections titled "At the Grocery Store" and "Discovery Center" to encourage education and dialogue at all levels of the industry.Given the global scope of the company and its customers, its primary corporate site is available in English, Spanish and French. Local sites for Brazil, Chile, India and Mexico are available in their respective local languages. Sites for up to 20 more countries in Europe and the other continents will be launched in the coming months, the company reported.
