On 20th and 21st
September 2006, not far from the Pau-Montardon Agronomy Park,
ARVALIS -
Institut du Végétal will present the most promising
innovations on the horizon for European maize. This field event
will showcase top research programmes designed to benefit not
only farmers, but the maize sector as a whole.
The show will
focus particularly on the most significant advances made in a
large number of fields : plant breeding using biotechnologies,
use of precision farming technology in crop management and the
agri-industrial revolution of biofuels, renewable energy and
bioresources.
From its research
centre for maize and cereals, part of the Pau-Montardon Agronomy
Park, and in collaboration with its partners, ARVALIS-Institut
du Végétal wants to help farmers and their partners benefit as
early as possible from advances achieved through the use of
modern technology, to improve the economy of the different
sectors, from maize production to processing (grain, forage,
seed, sweet corn). Fields of application include production cost
management/control, fertilisation, crop protection, coexistence
of GM and non-GM sectors, water management, quality of crops and
markets.
