FarmPure expands its Western Canadian presence through the acquisition of SW Seed Canada Ltd. by FarmPure Seeds

FarmPure Seeds announced today an agreement to purchase SW Seed Canada Ltd. a wholly owned subsidiary of Svalöf Weibull AB, Sweden. The transfer of ownership will take place September 1st, 2006.

Trenton Baisley, CEO of FarmPure said, “This is a great add to FarmPure Seeds, our pedigreed seed marketing channel. It provides further diversification of our seed portfolio adding assets that will provide us with greater operational flexibility to better serve our breeding partners from around the world and our retail partners in Canada and internationally. We are very pleased to have concluded this acquisition and will immediately begin to provide a smooth transition.”

The acquisition will give FarmPure Seeds full control and operating interests in a world class grass seed cleaning and processing plant in Nipawin, Saskatchewan, a canola cleaning and treating facility in Laurier, Manitoba, and a retail operation in Brandon, Manitoba. Canola, grass, and legume varieties acquired from SW Seed Canada will add breadth and depth to FarmPure Seeds current portfolio.
