Syngenta and the ETH Zurich Foundation today announced the creation of a scholarship foundation for PhD students conducting research projects at ETH Zurich in the area of plant science.

The Syngenta Plant Science Scholarship Foundation is being created in honor of its former Chairman Heinz Imhof. The endowment is expected to provide two PhD scholarships per year. The ETH Zurich Foundation and Syngenta intend to award the first scholarships by the end of this year.

“The Syngenta Plant Science Scholarship Foundation is an important investment in the education of plant science students in Switzerland,” said Martin Taylor, Chairman of Syngenta. “In honor of our former Chairman Heinz Imhof, who devoted a major part of his professional life to the progress of plant science, it is also a recognition of the outstanding quality of ETH’s research capability.”

Syngenta gründet mit der ETH Zürich zu Ehren von Heinz Imhof eine Stipendienstiftung im Bereich Pflanzenwissenschaften

Syngenta und die ETH Zürich Foundation gaben heute die Gründung einer Stipendienstiftung für Doktorandinnen und Doktoranden bekannt, die an der ETH Zürich im Bereich der Pflanzenwissenschaften forschen.

Die Syngenta Plant Science Stipendienstiftung wird zu Ehren von Heinz Imhof, dem vormaligen Verwaltungsrats- präsidenten von Syngenta, geschaffen. Vom Ertrag des Stiftungskapitals können jedes Jahr zwei Stipendien finanziert werden. Die ETH Zürich Foundation und Syngenta erwarten, dass die ersten Stipendien bis Ende dieses Jahres gewährt werden können.

„Die Syngenta Stipendienstiftung ist eine wichtige Investition in die Ausbildung von Doktorandinnen und Doktoranden im Bereich der Pflanzenwissenschaften in der Schweiz“, erklärte Martin Taylor, Präsident des Verwaltungsrates von Syngenta. „Die Stipendienstiftung zu Ehren von Heinz Imhof, der einen grossen Teil seiner beruflichen Laufbahn dem Fortschritt der Pflanzenwissenschaften gewidmet hat, ist auch eine Anerkennung der herausragenden Forschungsarbeiten an der ETH Zürich.“

Syngenta et l’ETH Zurich Foundation ont annoncé aujourd’hui la création d’une fondation de bourses d’études destinées à des étudiants préparant une thèse au sein de l’ETH Zurich dans le domaine des sciences végétales.

La Syngenta Plant Science Schlolarship Foundation a été créée en l’honneur de Heinz Imhof, ancien Président du Conseil d’Administration de Syngenta. Cette donation devrait permettre de financer les études de deux étudiants en thèse chaque année. L’ETH Zurich Foundation et Syngenta devraient remettre les premières bourses d’études à la fin de cette année.

« La création de la Syngenta Plant Science Schlolarship Foundation est une occasion d’investir réellement dans la formation des étudiants en sciences végétales en Suisse, a déclaré Martin Taylor, Président du Conseil d’Administration de Syngenta. Mais c’est aussi une reconnaissance de l’excellence de l’ETH en matière de recherche, et ce en l’honneur de notre ancien Président Heinz Imhof, qui consacra une grande partie de sa carrière au progrès des sciences végétales. »

Syngenta crea la Fundación de becas de ciencias biológicas con ETH Zurich en honor de Heinz Imhof

Syngenta y la fundación ETH Zurich Foundation anunciaron hoy la creación de una fundación de becas para los estudiantes de doctorado que lleven a cabo proyectos de investigación en ETH Zurich en la disciplina de ciencias biológicas.

La Fundación de becas de ciencias biológicas de Syngenta se crea en honor de su antiguo Presidente Heinz Imhof. La inversión debería sufragar dos becas de doctorado por año. La Fundación ETH Zurich Foundation y Syngenta prevén conceder las primeras  becas a finales de este año.

“La fundación de becas de ciencias biológicas de Syngenta constituye una importante inversión en la formación de los estudiantes de ciencias biológicas en Suiza,” afirmó Martin Taylor, Presidente de Syngenta. “En honor de nuestro antiguo Presidente Heinz Imhof, quien dedicó una gran parte de su vida profesional a la mejora de las ciencias biológicas, esto también supone un reconocimiento de la gran calidad de la investigación de ETH.”

“Esta aportación supone una importante contribución a la investigación pública de un líder mundial del sector tecnológico de las ciencias biológicas,” afirmó el Catedrático Ernst Hafen, Presidente de ETH y Vicepresidente del Consejo de fideicomisarios de la ETH Foundation. “Syngenta es una organización que valora la calidad de nuestros programas post licenciatura, así como la creciente importancia de las ciencias biológicas en Suiza.”
