Scott, Mississippi
November 28, 2005

Delta and Pine Land Company (NYSE: DLP - "D&PL"), a leading commercial breeder, producer and marketer of cotton planting seed, today announced a plan to gain synergies in its international and corporate development efforts through the creation of a senior vice president position with responsibility for these areas. Rick Greene, previously Vice President of Finance and Treasurer, will assume this role immediately and will retain responsibility for accounting and finance until a replacement is named.

"The Company's business has been evolving for the past several years and our growth strategy places a great emphasis on the international business and the development and commercialization of new technologies. Rick has a keen understanding of these areas, which are crucial to our reaching our mid-term and long-term goals," said Tom Jagodinski, D&PL President and CEO. Mr. Greene joins the core leadership team comprised of Mr. Jagodinski and Randy Dismuke, senior vice president of the U.S. business.

Mr. Greene commented, "We have made great strides in positioning our international business and technology platforms for future growth. This new position will give me the ability to focus my efforts on implementation of our strategies in these areas and work with the Company's management team to further increase the value we bring our customers and shareholders."

Mr. Greene has served as D&PL's Vice President- Finance, Treasurer and Assistant Secretary since 2002 and prior to that was Vice President of Business Development for two years. He joined the Company in 1997 as Director of International Taxation and Finance. Prior to joining the Company, he served in various capacities at Arthur Andersen LLP since 1991.
