Garst Seed Company
announces the introduction of 16 new corn hybrids in addition to
the 35 hybrids that were introduced earlier for the 2005 growing
season. Four of the newest hybrids contain the YieldGard® Plus1
technology for effective in-plant protection against western,
northern and Mexican corn rootworms plus protection from
European and southwestern corn borers.
The latest Garst hybrids are in the 92 to 117 general relative
maturity (GRM) range. Many of these hybrids also have the
Roundup Ready1, YieldGard1 Corn Borer and YieldGard1 Corn
Rootworm technology traits that offer in-plant tolerance to
Roundup1 brand herbicides and protection against European corn
borer or corn rootworm.
“Garst continuously strives to advance products that have
high-yielding genetic backgrounds and strong agronomics that
perform at high levels in the field,” says Jeff Sernett, corn
product manager for Garst. “Our goal is to raise performance
expectations with each new wave of products we deliver to our
customers. We’re especially excited to offer our YieldGard Plus
products, the latest stacked trait technology. These products
offer customers greater tools for managing multiple pests
through Garst seed.”
The newest Garst hybrids also are available with Cruiser
ExtremeTM Pak, a seed treatment combination of Cruiser®
seed-applied insecticide and three proven fungicides – Maxim®
XL, Apron XL® and new DynastyTM. The fungicides provide
protection against all four major fungal groups. “The Cruiser
Extreme Pak treatment provides ultimate plant stand protection
so each corn plant can contribute to the crop’s maximum yield
potential,” says Sernett.
