Russian Federation: planting
seeds annual 2005
ABSTRACT
The majority of
planting seeds used in the Russian Federation continue to be
"saved" seeds or seeds that farmers simply save from the
previous year. The use of imported seeds is increasing, but only
in the sectors in which vertical integration is common. After a
period of uncertainty connected with the administrative reform
of the Ministry of Agriculture, the Federal Service for
Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance assumed control of all
seed testing and registration.
