Syngenta announced today that it has entered a licensing agreement with Sumitomo Chemical from Japan for the development and marketing of a new herbicide. This agreement provides Syngenta with full, worldwide rights to the herbicide SYN 523, which Syngenta will continue to develop to further strengthen its portfolio. Sumitomo Chemical will receive royalty payments as well as distribution rights to certain products in specific countries.

The new herbicide promises to give exceptionally broad-spectrum weed control. First products will be several years in development and registration, with the first launch expected within five to seven years.

Further details of the agreement were not disclosed.

Syngenta und Sumitomo treffen Lizenzvereinbarung für Herbizid

Syngenta hat mit dem japanischen Unternehmen Sumitomo Chemical eine Lizenzvereinbarung zur Entwicklung und Vermarktung eines neuen Herbizids abgeschlossen. Mit dieser Vereinbarung erwirbt Syngenta die weltweiten Rechte für das Herbizid SYN 523, das Syngenta weiterentwickeln will, um das eigene Portfolio weiter zu stärken. Sumitomo Chemical erhält im Gegenzug Lizenzgebühren und die Rechte für den Vertrieb einzelner Produkte in ausgewählten Ländern.

Das neue Herbizid soll über hervorragende Eigenschaften zur Bekämpfung eines breiten Spektrums von Unkräutern verfügen. Die Entwicklung und Zulassung der ersten Produkte dürfte mehrere Jahre in Anspruch nehmen, so dass mit der erstmaligen Markteinführung in fünf bis sieben Jahren gerechnet wird.

Syngenta et Sumitomo concluent un contrat de licence sur un herbicide

Syngenta a annoncé aujourd’hui avoir conclu un contrat de licence avec Sumitomo Chemical, au Japon, pour le développement et la commercialisation d’un nouvel herbicide. Ce contrat octroie à Syngenta la totalité des droits, dans le monde entier, sur l’herbicide SYN 523, que Syngenta continuera à développer pour poursuivre le renforcement de son portefeuille. Sumitomo Chemical recevra des paiements de royalties, ainsi que des droits de distribution pour certains produits dans des pays spécifiques.

Le nouvel herbicide permettra un contrôle à très large spectre des mauvaises herbes. Les premiers produits passeront plusieurs années en phase de développement et d’enregistrement, le premier lancement étant prévu d’ici cinq à sept ans. Aucun autre détail du contrat n’a été révélé.
