Exciting new Delta and Pine Land varieties to be featured at 2006 Beltwide Cotton Conferences
Scott, Mississippi
December 22, 2005

The 2006 variety lineup from Delta and Pine Land Company (D&PL) combines proven, legendary performance with exciting new varieties offering cotton producers more technologies and both the potential for better yield and fiber quality than ever before.

Both DP 555 BG/RR and DP 444 BG/RR have set the standards for yield and quality potential in stacked-gene cottons, giving producers across the Belt the potential for consistent, outstanding performance. For this season, D&PL will have three new stacked-gene varieties, plus new Roundup Ready® Flex and Bollgard® II/Roundup Ready Flex products, to complement the nation’s top cotton-variety lineup.

DP 445 BG/RR is an early- to mid-maturity Bollgard®/Roundup Ready® variety that has performed extremely well in state university official variety trials (OVT), delivering yield and fiber grades as good as, or better than, top stacked-gene varieties on the market today. Data from 2004 and 2005 indicates the fiber quality on DP 445 BG/RR has premium potential, in line with DP 444 BG/RR. DP 445 BG/RR has shown good seedling vigor and has responded well to standard growth management practices.

Also new from D&PL for 2006 is DP 455 BG/RR, which has shown strong yield performance and fits maturity-wise between DP 444 BG/RR and DP 555 BG/RR. It is a mid- to full-maturity variety with excellent seedling vigor and the potential for both high yield and premium fiber quality. DP 454 BG/RR, another new mid- to fullmaturity variety, has exhibited outstanding yield and fiber quality potential in testing to date.

D&PL will also have 8 new Roundup Ready® Flex varieties, four of them Roundup Ready Flex stacked with Bollgard II. A new Acala and a new Pima variety for the western U.S. markets will also be in supply for 2006. These exciting new products will be presented at the New Developments session on Jan. 4 during the 2006 Beltwide Cotton Conferences in San Antonio, Texas.
