December 19, 2005

Garst Seed Company recently named Jenny Mennenga and Kevin Scholl as area agronomists in Illinois.

Mennenga will be responsible for providing agronomic expertise and product information to growers throughout central Illinois. She will be based in LeRoy, Ill.

Prior to joining Garst, Mennenga was an agronomist specializing in soybean production management operations for Pioneer Hi-Bred International, Inc. in Illinois. Before this, she was a sales representative with BASF, specializing in the CLEARFIELD* Production System.

Mennenga held various teaching assistant and intern positions while attending Iowa State University where she earned bachelor’s degrees in both agronomy and seed science. She is a certified crop adviser (CCA).

Scholl will provide agronomic expertise and product information to growers in western Illinois. He will be based in Wyoming, Ill.

Scholl comes to Garst from Alvey Agricultural Research where he was a field scientist specializing in conducting research protocols for field trials and providing technical support for crop scouting programs. Prior to that, Scholl was a consulting agronomist for Mowers Soil Testing PLUS, Inc. and CropWatch, Inc. in Toulon, Ill., where he consulted with growers on pest management strategies, soil fertility issues and variable rate technology applications of fertilizer and limestone.

Scholl earned a master’s in crop science and a bachelor’s degree in agriculture from the University of Illinois. He also is a CCA.

“Both Jenny and Kevin come to Garst with an extensive agricultural background and expertise in production agriculture that will prove valuable to growers in their respective territories,” says John Pieper, eastern agronomy services manager for Garst.
