PICKSEED CANADA INC. has introduced 16 new corn hybrids to its 2005 product line-up for Canadian producers to select from.  With many new technologies giving more choice to producers, PICKSEED has updated its product line to meet producer needs.

These new products include 9 hybrids that were newly released for 2005 planting, and 7 hybrids that were a limited release in 2004 and are now in full production.

Leafy™ silage corn has been a major product category for PICKSEED. When developing the best silage or grain hybrid, breeders have gone down different paths to provide producers with the best product to meet their needs. Silage hybrids produce large, soft starched kernels; higher fiber digestibility, more tonnage per acre, more total plant sugars, and even dry down of stalks and grain.

PICKSEED’s new silage specific corn hybrids include ExPert, ExCaliburRR, ExPress, ExAct and also SilEx Bt.

The major thrust of PICKSEED’s grain hybrid development is to select for strong stalks, excellent plant health and stress tolerance, good grain quality, and heavy test weight. PICKSEED is pleased to offer the following new hybrids to meet producers’ needs for high yielding grain corn -- 2455Bt, 2603Bt, 2604BtRR, 2774BtRR, 2755, 4954RR, 5675Bt, 2230, 2365RR, 2535LL, 4956Bt.

The following is a brief description for each of our new hybrids:

SilexBt – A Yieldgard® enhanced, dual-purpose early silage or grain hybrid.

ExAct –  Attractive, tall plant with good standability.

ExPress – Great looking Leafy™ with an extended harvest window.

ExCaliburRR – Tall, Roundup Ready® hybrid with excellent seedling vigour and fast spring development.

ExPert – White cobbed hybrid with soft starch kernels that provides excellent quality silage.

2230 (2175 CHU) – Very early grain hybrid with excellent yield potential.

2365RR (2425 CHU) – Rapid early season growth, Roundup Ready® hybrid finishing with high test weight and grain quality.

2455Bt (2500 CHU) – Excellent yielding hybrid with corn borer resistance.

2535LL (2575 CHU) – Strong stalk, excellent plant health, and rapid dry down with high yields of easy combining grain.

2603Bt (2600 CHU) – Medium-tall Bt hybrid with strong stalks and high yields of heavy test weight grain.

2604BtRR (2600 CHU) – Stacked corn borer and Roundup Ready® tolerance traits in a premier grain hybrid with excellent stalks, grain quality, and test weight.

2774BtRR (2650 CHU)– Elite grain hybrid that is PICKSEED’s introduction to stacked traits – Roundup Ready® plus Yieldgard®.

2755 (2725 CHU) – Tall, stable hybrid with good seedling vigour, and very fast dry down of high quality grain.

4954RR –  High yielding, Roundup Ready® hybrid with deep kernels and great tip fill.

4956Bt (2900 CHU) – Outstanding plant health and yield with Bt protection.

5675Bt (3000 CHU) –  Excellent plant health, good vigour, and strong finish with high yields of quality grain.
