Golden Harvest maintains and broadens its tech line-up
Waterloo, Nebraska
August 16, 2004

Golden Harvest has announced significant additions to its technology offering for 2005 planting as a result of the closing of the acquisition by Syngenta, and will continue to have commercial quantities of all technologies previously offered.

“Producers have told us they are interested in having a wider choice of technology products from a wider
choice of technology developers. Broadening our technology offering is just the beginning; a beginning
that we believe will deliver a positive impact for American farmers,” said Dr. Calvin Treat, Director of
Product Management for Golden Harvest. “As a result of our desire to bring more choice to our customers,

Monsanto has chosen to terminate our current technology agreements. However, growers should not be
misled, Golden Harvest does have the ability to continue to provide customers with Monsanto technology
products for a period of time that includes the 2005 growing season.”

Golden Harvest will continue to provide customers with products that include Roundup Ready® corn, Roundup Ready soybeans, YieldGard® Corn Borer, YieldGard Rootworm, YieldGard Plus and stacked combinations of these products. Along with the current technology line-up, Golden Harvest will now offer additional products accessed from Syngenta that include glyphosate tolerance in corn, YieldGard® insect protection and LibertyLink® technology (Bt 11), and stacked combinations.

Golden Harvest has offered Genetics First, Agronomy Up Front and Service Alwayssm to customers in the U.S. since 1973 and Europe since 1991. Golden Harvest’s family of independent Sales Representatives and Dealers are proud to supply the industries most complete package of products, information and technology. Syngenta acquired the Golden Harvest Companies July 30, 2004.
