Spectracide(R) Triazicide(R) Dominates As #1 Diazinon Replacement

United Industries Corporation (United), (which goes to market as Spectrum Brands) the leading manufacturer and marketer of value-oriented products for the consumer lawn and garden care and insect control markets in the United States, has finalized a long-term agreement with Syngenta Crop Protection, Inc. to extend its exclusive use of the advanced active ingredient Lambda Cyhalothrin, the technology featured in United's Spectracide® Triazicide® line of products. Spectracide Triazicide is the leading soil and turf insecticide in the U.S. consumer lawn and garden market and the category's #1 replacement for diazinon. Syngenta is a world-leading manufacturer of crop protection and professional pest control products.

Expanding its leadership position in the U.S. consumer lawn and garden insecticide market, United introduced Spectracide Triazicide in 2002 when the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) agreed with the Syngenta decision to phase-out diazinon for consumer lawn use by December 2004. Triazicide effectively and quickly kills over 130 insects while offering a product with better performance and lower usage rates than diazinon. Spectracide Triazicide now ranks as the leading consumer lawn and garden insecticide in the U.S.

In addition to their technology partnership for insect control products such as Triazicide, United Industries and Syngenta have developed exclusive agreements in certain herbicides for consumer use that are featured in Spectracide Grass & Weed products.
