Garst Seed Company
announces its new corn hybrids for the 2003 crop year. This year
the company is bringing to market 29 all-new, top-performing
corn hybrids, including 13 new Roundup Ready® hybrids and seven
YieldGard® Corn Borer (YG1) hybrids, including three YieldGard®
Corn Borer and Roundup Ready® multiple-trait or G-STAC hybrids.
The new offerings also include 12 new conventional plus IT
hybrids across the early, midseason and full-season ranges.
"We continue to develop all-new hybrids based upon the
innovation of our breeders and researchers and our extensive
base of proprietary corn genetics," says Jeff Sernett, corn
product manager for Garst. "However, with our Œbest products¹
strategy, we don¹t introduce new products unless they are
significantly better than the hybrids they are targeted to
replace or unless they provide new solutions customers are
demanding."
This best products philosophy also means that Garst customers
can be assured that the new hybrids they are considering have
been through multiple years of development, testing, and
in-field evaluations and trials.
"We continue to see growing demand for our technology products,"
notes Sernett. "Roundup Ready®, YieldGard® Corn Borer and our
Garst-exclusive IT hybrids for the Clearfield Production System
continue to have very strong demand from growers across the Corn
Belt."
Standability
Sernett notes that over the past several crop years, Garst
hybrids have earned a reputation for late-season plant health
and standability. "Our breeders focus on the 'full package' when
it comes to hybrid performance," says Sernett. "We work hard to
find hybrids that exhibit this late-season plant health because,
more often than not, that directly affects hybrid drydown and
standability at harvest. Yield is paramount, but there¹s a lot
more to a top-performing hybrid that contributes value for our
customers."
