GenServe Laboratories is a commercial
plant genetics facility opened by the Saskatchewan Research Council
(SRC) in 1999. We provide genetic services and applied research to the
biotechnology and agriculture industries. We work to the highest
standard of service, including Good Laboratory Practices. Strict
confidentiality is applied to all client work.
Our DNA testing services can benefit a range of clients including
biotech companies, plant breeders, insurance companies and individual
farmers. Our testing can be used to identify seed lineage, evaluate
the success of transgenic varieties or highlight genes that indicate
disease or performance traits.
Our laboratory services include:
- High-throughput DNA testing of
transgenic plants
- DNA fingerprinting of crops and
microorganisms to establish identities and assess relatedness
between individual DNA samples
- Identification and screening of
plant diseases through molecular markers
- Development of new molecular testing
technologies on a contract basis
