To meet the increased demand, grower/shippers have grown, packed and shipped huge volumes of broccoli.Initially, broccoli was mostly bunched. Later, frozen cuts and spears became en vogue.

When that acreage moved south of the US border, the broccoli market was revived by crown cuts for export and domestic use, bagged florets, sliced and diced cuts, and stalks used for coleslaw and broccoslaw.

These value-added products have been extremely profitable for the grower and shipper.

Of course, the varieties have made a significant contribution to the broccoli grower and shippers' success.
