Denmark continues to surge ahead in world fescue seed trade, but stays mainly within EU
September, 2002

Denmark primarily exports red fescue. The EU supports red fescue production at a rate of 368 euros per ton.

The chart to the left is for May-April periods (July-June marketing year data not yet available).

Danish fescue seed exports during the first four months of 2002 are up 37 percent from the same period last year. Most Danish exports stay within the EU.

The world’s largest non-European, non-North American importer of fescue seed is China. In MY 2001/02, Denmark supplied 20 percent of China’s imports; the U.S. accounted for 70 percent
