GROW webinar: What it takes to build an eco-efficient genebank for the 21st century

Peter is the Leader of the Genetic Resource Program at Alliance of Bioversity International and CIAT since 2016. He came to CIAT from the Crop Trust where he contributed to the coordination of the DivSeek Initiative. Previously, he led the Seeds of Discovery project at CIMMYT to systematically identify and mobilize useful genetic variation from the global maize and wheat collections using a combination of genotyping, phenotyping and pre-breeding strategies. Peter has a doctorate in plant physiology and genetics from the University of Vienna and has participated in various research areas, both in the public and private sector, devoted to developing tools and strategies to enhance the conservation and use of plant genetic resources.

Genebank Resources on the Web (GROW) webinars are presented through a partnership between the Crop Trust and CGIAR Genebank Platform to provide thought-provoking discussions within the genebank community.

The webinar series explores topics ranging from emerging technologies, operational efficiency, collecting to seed longevity, policy, and use. GROW aims to tackle difficult questions and provoke discussion on important genebank- related details and themes.

Webinars are bi-monthly and pre-registration is required to attend.
