Enza Zaden - Resistance to powdery mildew (Leveillula taurica Lt). in pepper

The Netherlands
November 12, 2021

Leveillula Taurica, Lt

One of the most aggressive and serious diseases in pepper is Powdery Mildew (Leveillula Taurica, Lt). Powdery Mildew is a fungus that decreases the productivity of peppers and shortens the production cycle.

Resistance makes the difference

Enza Zaden has developed a line of pepper varieties with resistance to Powdery Mildew. These varieties, with Intermediate resistance to the disease, are less susceptible to get infected and when they get infected, show less symptoms.

With Lt-resistant varieties, growers can reduce the need for pesticides to fight the disease which results in a cleaner product. The longer lifecycle of resistant varieties leads to a higher yield and less waste.

Our resistant varieties

Enza Zaden has Lt-resistant pepper varieties in different segments and colours. Vanadio and Drakkan are known varieties in the red blocky segment. Carrizo and Navel are respectively yellow and orange blocky varieties. In the long conical segment, we have Prost (red), E20C.10403 (yellow) and E20C.10405 (orange).

Visit our House Fair

We are happy to show you these varieties during our House Fair Spain and discuss the importance of resistance to fight Powdery Mildew in pepper. Contact your local sales representative to make an appointment.
