Source: PBL News

PBL's patent on late blight resistance genes from Jonathan Jones at The Sainsbury Laboratory, Norwich has been granted in Europe and the US with good progress also being made in a number of other key territories that are affected by the potato late blight disease.
The genes provide the ability to protect potatoes from this devastating disease that causes annual crop losses of about £3bn. In ongoing field trials PBL partners are making significant progress towards a commercial product.
