Workshop of intellectual property protection

Brussels, Belgium
June 30, 2013

What type of “protection” can I obtain for my new vegetable varieties?

Is it not sufficient the registration in the national list?

Is it a useful tool also for my company or does it concern only the big companies?

But then, how much it costs me and what guarantees I obtain?

And how do I fill in the application and whom I have to send it to?...

These are only few of the questions which will find an answer in the meeting promoted by the Gruppo Orto wic of Assosementi with the aim of providing some clearness on the main aspects of a matter and a procedure still not well exploited by Italian breeders.

The protection of the intellectual property actually represents the first essential step to ensure a remuneration of the heavy investments required by R&D activities.

The predominant feeling is that IP is only a further costly procedure still little effective for the protection of new varieties.

The workshop is aimed to promote the debate mainly within vegetable sector, through a direct exchange between operators and official representatives.
