Context Network releases White Paper:  “Global Crop Production Systems and Technology: an assessment of top producing countries in corn, cotton, soybeans and canola

West Des Moines, Iowa, USA
April 24, 2012

Producing enough food and fiber to sustain a growing global population will place new and growing demands on the agricultural producers of the world. The Context Network has released a White Paper that provides a comparative assessment of technology use around the world to successfully enhance sustainable production of key field crops on a global level. The study is entitled, “Global Crop Production Systems and Technology: an assessment of top producing countries in corn, cotton, soybeans and canola”.

Context Senior Associate, Nathan Ramsey said, “Meeting food and fiber demands during the next 30-50 years will require increased productivity from finite natural resources, while balancing demands for environmental protection and social benefit. It will also require farmers around the world to use the latest available agricultural technology.”

Ramsey added, “In field crop production, technology used to raise these crops includes agronomic practices, use of seed from the most advanced breeding programs and novel solutions to crop protection and productivity such as biotechnology. This study offers a comparative understanding of technology adoption and use in the efforts to increase production. It provides a snapshot of the level of technologies employed by farmers around the world as they produce corn, soybeans, cotton and canola crops.”

The study was crafted by an international team of seven Context Senior Associates and Partner, Mark Holland who said, “Each of these contributors has both broad understanding of and deep expertise in global crop systems and technology. Context’s ability to provide this depth of perspective is testament to our rich resources in executive expertise. Each team member contributed their insight and experience toward this important benchmark. We believe this approach can be extended to additional crops and geographies as well as additional dimensions of sustainable production in the future.”

The White Paper includes extensive figures, tables and map graphics to provide illustrative benefit to readers. It is offered free of charge and is available for download on the company’s website at www.contextnet.com.
